A full-day workshop within the grounds of the picturesque Sandy Hill Arts in Dorset.
During this full-day workshop you will learn about the natural process of indigo dyeing.
We will start by creating a natural indigo dye vat using the 1,2,3 method (a method developed by Michael Garcia).
You will then learn a selection of Shibori techniques including folding (Itajime), wrapping (Arashi) and using objects (Ne-Make) to enable you to create a variety of patterns in dyed fabric.
Throughout the day you will work on creating fabrics samples which you will take home ready to incorporate into your own stitch projects.
All the knowledge you have gained through sampling will help you to progress to your final project. For this you have the option to work on an organic cotton scarf or a larger piece of plain fabric to create a final design, where you can incorporate some of the techniques you have learnt throughout the day.
Workshops are run in small groups, allowing time and space to experiment, ask questions and explore the process.
