A full-day workshop within the grounds of the picturesque Sandy Hill Arts in Dorset.
My first indigo workshop of 2025… I’m so excited to get started. Join me and we’ll explore the magic of indigo together!!
During this full-day workshop you will learn about the natural process of indigo dyeing.
Beginning with a demonstration on how to create a natural indigo dye vat using the 1,2,3 method, you will experiment with a variety of timed dips to build you own knowledge on the dye process.
You will then learn resist techniques in order to create patterns in your dyed fabric. We will start with Shibori folding techniques, followed by more experimental approaches.
Throughout the day you will work on a collection of dyed and patterned fabric swatches which you will take home and might display as textile art or incorporate into your own stitch projects.
All the knowledge you have gained through sampling will help you to progress to your final project. You will have the option to work on either an organic cotton scarf or a tea towel, using one or a selection of the techniques you have learnt.
Workshops are taught in small groups (max 4 people), allowing time and space to experiment, ask questions and explore the process.
